During your week with Kerrang! You will see how a weekly rock magazine is made, from an empty shell to a fully designed issue being sent to print. You will be able to get hands-on and assist the team with all kinds of things. These can include:

  • Handing out the post
  • Doing the mail-out
  • Researching facts
  • Complete writing tasks

You will also get to have one-on-one time with the reviews, news and features editors where you will have the opportunity to learn and be involved with a range of things. You might be involved in writing an album/live review, turning a boring press release into a full news story or pitching a full feature with detailed structure and panel ideas. We listen to loud music and have a laugh, so be prepared. It gets busy and hectic, but that’s all part of working at a weekly – so hopefully this will help you on your journalistic path.

Skills gained:

From your time with Kerrang! you will see how a weekly rock magazine is put together from start to finish.
