Recently, it seems like everyone’s been talking about apprenticeships. We know that they’re a great alternative to uni, a way to earn as you learn, and an ideal way to get a head start with experience in a real business, rather than just having your part time job in the local shop on your CV.
But what do real apprentices actually have to say about the scheme?
We wanted to find out, so we went along to a Meet The Apprentice event at O2’s HQ in Slough. Here, loads of potential future apprentices got the chance to network with O2 employees, as well as current and ex apprentices, to ask the people who had been there and done that, all of their burning questions.
In case you missed it, we grabbed a couple of ex-apprentice’s and the mastermind in charge of hiring them all, to get their top tips on apprenticeship applications…
“Be yourself and concentrate on your strengths,” Marcus Service Delivery Administrator and ex O2 apprentice told us.
And when it comes to the assessment day? “Be open, be honest and relax,” Russell, Service Delivery Lead at O2 and ex-apprentice advised.
“Show you’re passionate about technology and love what you do,” Angela, Early Careers and Apprenticeship consultant told us.
