When we teamed up with the experts from O2 and Boiler Room in London, we set out to bring down the barriers between you and the music industry.

And down the barriers came. Our successful London applicants got to spend two days at Boiler Room HQ, living like music industry insiders. You lot got to learn from the experts in masterclasses, tasks and panels, pet the office dog and even find Boiler Room’s actual boiler. But that’s not all, we even gave you the chance to get up close and personal with our London headliner, Novelist. He sat down with our lucky attendees to answer questions on everything from music careers, to keeping the faith and dealing with haters.

He’s only 19, but Novelist’s been taking the grime scene by storm for a while. While most of us were umming and ahhing about what A Levels to do, aged just 17, Novelist was busy getting nominated for a MOBO.

We caught up with the man himself to find out how he gained the industry’s respect as a teenager, why he doesn’t buy into “crazy career books”, and the career advice he got from his mum.
